Zion Green Sends Nords to East Final

The Maine Nordiques are headed to the East division finals thanks to a game 5 OT winner from Zion Green

The Maine Nordiques took on the Rochester jr Americans for a win or go home game 5 at the Colisee.

in the first period of action the Nordiques were helped to some huge goaltending from Carter Richardson. Both teams were digging deep into their arsenal after the 5th game in this series and the 3rd game in 4 days between the two teams

The First goal of the contest came 36 seconds into the second period when the Americans were able to find the back of the net on a tip. The Nordiques were unable to come back into the period and Rochester would lead it 1-0 after two.

The Nordiques needed a big third period and to set the tone early. Zion Green provided them the punch and did just that as he found the twine 2:06 into the thrid period.

Both teams were kept off the scoreboard and the game would need 5 on 5 sudden death overtime to decide the winner of the series.

With overtime expiring, Kellen Murphy would keep the puck in the zone, fire a pass to Nils Forselius who connected with Zion Green wide open and Zion Green would snap home a wrister top shelf to give his team the game 5 win and send them to the East Division finals against the Black Bears.
