Nordiques sweep weekend on the road against the Danbury Hat Tricks

The Maine Nordiques hit the road for just their second in-division road weekend of the season against the Hat Tricks in Danbury Connecticut. The Nordiques came into the contest off a 2-1 weekend at The Colisee against the Black Bears and New Hampshire Mountain Kings.

The Nordiques weekend got out to a slow start as the Hat Tricks would get on the board late in the first period after some back and forth action which included the Nordiques killing off multiple penalties but a penalty late in the period would be the difference in it.

The Nordiques would get fired up and find the response in the second period as Charles Tardif would find the back of the net off a great feed from Nordiques newcomer and former U18 Nordique Ryan Panico. The Nordiques would then get another from Bentley university commit David Helledy who recorded his third of the season. The Nordiques called up U18 defenseman Anderson Sandquist prior to the weekend and in his first NAHL Game he would find the back of the net for his first goal.

The Nordiques would get  fired up and Matt Lewis would find the back of the net off a drop pass from newcomer Nils Forselius. Ten Minutes later LIU commit Nick Bernardo would put one off the post and in to put the game away and the Nordiques would skate away with a 5-1 win.

Danbury legend A.J Galante helped the Nordiques celebrate the win after with a post game speech.

SATURDAY:

Following the win on Friday the Nordiques were looking to capture the weekend sweep. They got off to a slow start however as the Hat Tricks would score back to back goals in the first to go up 2-0 after the period despite the Nordiques outshooting the Hat Tricks 17-8.

The Nordiques didn’t let the slow period stop them however as Jake Bernadet would find the back of the net unassisted. Nick Bernardo would add another less than a minute later for his second of the season and second in just as many games. It would be tied up 2-2 after 2 periods of play.

The Nordiques would grab the lead as Kellen Murphy would charge toward the net and take a tumble losing the puck. However, the puck went to Charles Tardif on the far side who shot it off of Kellen Murphy’s body in front and find the back of the net. Jake Bernadet would add another and the Nordiques would sweep the weekend series with a 4-2 win.
