This past Wednesday saw the best rivalry in junior hockey as the Northeast Generals and Maine Nordiques would see each other for the 1st out of 3 games this weekend. Casper Söderling scored his 2nd goal of the season to open the scoring late in the first period. The second period started with a Generals goal. Unfortunately that didn’t stop there as the Generals would score 5 straight 2nd period goals. Tim Kent scored just 25 seconds into the 3rd to stop the Gens scoring streak. The Nords would pull within 1 but an empty netter sealed the deal and their last minute comeback bid fell short in a 7-5 loss
On Friday, the Maine Nordiques called up Forward Tristan Thibeault from the MNDP. Marco Duronio also from the MNDP got the nod in net. Stefan Owens would get the Nords on the board early however the Generals would get it right back. The Nords came alive with 2 goals in the 2nd which was the opposite of Wednesday’s game which they fell flat in. Cannon Green and Ethan Prout got 2 goals in the 2nd, in addition to Duronio’s 38/40 save night to give them the 3-2 win
On Saturday, the Maine Nords were facing the Generals for game 3 of the week. Llocked in a penalty filled game, the Generals got on the board first but the Nords responded with another strong 2nd period scoring 3 goals thanks to Kevin Pitts, Noah Kane and Trent Grimshaw. Alex Rivet would open the 3rd with another goal and Ethan Prout capped off his amazing weekend with the Empty netter
Thursday was the 1st of 4 straight for the L/A Nordiques as they had a tough task in a first place Danbury Colonials team. The Nords were about to see a scoreless first period however, Bryce Leger had different ideas, scoring to make it 1-0 after 1. The Nords would get 2 more from Clark and Egusa. Danbury kept pulling within 1 goal however Keller and Clark would score back to back to put the game away and seal a 7-4 Nords win.
On Friday, the L/A Nords started newcomer Brogan MacDonald in net, he would turn aside 30/31 in addition to 2 goals from Frechette and Keller en route to a 5-1 win.
On Saturday, the L/A Nords were facing the in state rival Maine Wild. They got 67 shots on net however a strong performance from the Wilds goalie only allowed the Nords to score 5 goals in their 5-1 win. They were lead by Nick Pomerleau and Bradley McMains 2 assist night.
Sunday had the L/A Nords taking on their in-state rival once again away, Will Hays got the nod in net for the first time this season and stopped 19/20 shots he saw for the win. Lewiston Natives, Will Fletcher had 2 goals, and Nick Pomerleau had 2 goals and an assist. Peyton Hughes also had 3 assists, along with Sergei Anisimov and Daisuke Egusa adding 2 helpers.
