The Nordiques took on the first place New Jersey Titans for their first game at the Colisee in over a month. The Nords had an impressive road trip going 4-0-1-1 and having points in their last 6 games took on a Titans team that was 7-3 in their last ten and on a five game win streak.

The scoring got going early as the Titans scored just 49 seconds into the contest. They would earn the momentum in the first and add 2 more to lead it 3-0 before the Nordiques were able to show the Titans why their power play is ranked first in the east. It took the Nords less than 30 seconds to find the back of the net as Tyler Gaulin found the Nords first goal of the game to make it 3-1 Titans after the first period.

The Nordiques didn’t let the momentum die in the intermission as Tyler Gaulin scored just 3 minutes into the second to make it a one goal game. After some back and forth action and great saves by Avery Sturtz and shot blocks by the Nords defense the Titans broke free with a goal. The Nordiques had the opportunity to get it right back on a power play however the Titans were able to free up the puck in the Nords defensive zone and burry a shorthanded goal. The Titans lead it 5-2 after 2.

The Nordiques needed a big third period if they wanted to comeback to take it. The Titans would score just four minutes into the frame to give them a 6-2 advantage. The Nords would then  get an early power play but couldn’t convert. After their first power play they got another chance but once again the Titans stood tall defensively. The Titans added another late into the third and would take it 7-2.

The Nords square off for a rematch tomorrow, 2/26 at 7pm at the Colisee before hitting the road Monday to face the Generals.
