Head Coach -NAHL Maine Nordiques
No stranger to taking expansion teams to high level success, Nolan will serve as the NAHL Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations of the Maine Nordiques for the upcoming season.
Son of Hockey Hall of Famer and Director of Professional Scouting for the Detroit Red Wings Mark Howe, and grandson to the late great Gordie Howe (#9 Mr. Hockey), Coach Howe enters his second year as NA Head Coach, and 8th year as organizational Head Coach.
Nolan led the expansion Maine Nordiques’ first year to one of the most successful record of any expansion team in League history.
Prior to his promotion to the NAHL, Nolan helmed the 2012 to 2018 seasons as Head Coach of the Maine Nordiques predecessor team, the ISS Kings of NJ, an Elite Independent travel program focused on player development and advancement.
As Head Coach of the ISS Kings, Nolan took the startup organization of seven players in year one to phenomenal success in year 3, amassing a greater than 25 game winning streak on route to winning International Silversticks (Toronto) vs the Toronto Jr. Canadians, Chicago Bauer vs the Toronto Marlies, and the Mississauga Border Battle vs the Ottawa Wild. More impressive to the organization was the advancement of over 9 players to OHL drafts and 9 to the USHL, while several others advanced to high level prep schools and the national festival opportunities.
Following his years as a youth player in the Detroit area, Nolan Attended Valley Forge Military Academy and College. Upon completing his education, Nolan began his hockey coaching career with the Lake Orion Dragons, a Division 1 high school hockey program in Michigan.
At the time, Nolan also began his work with Selects Hockey and Legacy Global Sports, a world-renowned spring program for which he worked in many capacities including coach, general manager, scout and camp instructor.
In the off season, Nolan established his own hockey company, Know Howe Hockey, which runs Summer camps in locations such as Sochi, Russia, Detroit, Michigan, and Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
Associate Head Coach
Matt, who is also referred to as Pinch, will be supporting the organization as NAHL Associate Head Coach and Director of Player Personnel & Development.
Entering his 13th year of coaching, Pinch has a strong passion for skill development and mentoring players on and of the ice. He has established many strong relationships over the years coaching and training players that have gone on to have success as they climb the ladder. Former hockey students that have worked with Pinch have reached the NCAA D3, D1, Minor-Pro, and NHL levels.
Player Development has always been a major role in his coaching experience; every player getting better is a priority for him. Over the years Pinch has helped take part in advancing more than a 100 student-athletes to NCAA hockey programs. Providing guidance for the players through the college process will be a main focus for the organization with Pinch.
Prior to coaching in the NAHL, Pinchevsky has been fortunate to work with many successful groups, from AAA teams that make trips to USA Hockey Nationals to playoff-clinching Jr. teams in various leagues. During this time, Pinch also worked for Select Hockey and Legacy Global Sports where the 10-year relationship and his friendship with Coach Howe began. Pinch has a strong background in the Academy model; in fact, he and GM Eric Soltys were partners in building the foundation of the Selects Academy.
Before the beginning of his coaching career, Pinch played his minor hockey at Shattuck-St. Mary’s School in Faribault, MN for the worldwide recognized hockey program. After Jr. A hockey, he went on to play at the collegiate level and earn a Bachelor’s degree focused in Communication and Journalism from Curry College.
Pinch and his wife Katherine make Maine their home with their son Cole.
Goal Tending Coach
Dan spent the past two years as Associate Head Coach for the Kenai Black Bears in the NAHL. During his time in Kenai, he helped set program records for lowest win streak, most home wins, and were on pace to set franchise records and total wins. Before Kenai, Coach Bogdan was the Assistant Coach fo the Northfield Mount Hermon varsity program. While there, the program earned the large school tournament. Before coaching, Coach Bogdan played as a forward at Framingham State earning his degree in Business Administration.
