Game #26
The Maine Nordiques were playing in their second game in two days and their last game before the holiday break.
The first period started with both teams catching their breath after last nights shootout thriller. The Black Bears would be the first to strike 6:10 into the first frame. The Nordiques would head to a power play that went to 4-on-4 which saw some good chances for The Nords. The Black Bears would add another to make it 2-0 bears after the first.
The second period started much like the first as the Black Bears would find the back of the net to make it 3-0. The Nordiques would then get a big save from their goaltender Kael Depape to swing the momentum and they would turn it into a goal as Oliver Genest would burry one to respond. Fillip Wiberg would then tip home a Sterling Wolters shot to make it 3-2. The Nordiques would also kill off another penalty and trail by one after two periods of play.
The third period started with the Nords in control of the pace, they kept it in the zone on an Evan Orloff shot and Oliver Genest would tip it top shelf to tie it to three. Following the goal the Nords went back to the penalty kill and came up big on it once again with some great defense and goaltending by Kael Depape. This one would need overtime.
As overtime was winding down Tony Achillie charged ahead, avoided a check and feed Evan Orloff in the slot who powered one home and give the Nords their first win at home in overtime in 588 days. The Nords return at home on December 30th and 31st!
