The Maine Nordiques faced off against the New Jersey Titans after a 7-2 loss last night.

The first period had a great flow to it, and the Nordiques had a great chance to go up early with a power play but wouldn’t be able to convert. Late in the first period Caden Pattison got into it with the Titans David Posma in a fight which rallied his team and got the energy going.

The second period started with a Nordiques penalty kill which was successful, and got them some more momentum. The Titans threw some shots towards Gus Holt, but he was solid and ended up with 37/37 saves in net for his 2nd career shutout. The Nordiques looked to be on another penalty kill midway through the frame; but the Titans would retaliate and 4 on 4 would still solve nothing. The Nords and Titans were still deadlocked at 0 after two full periods.

In the third period both teams were looking for a chip in the oppositions armor but couldn’t find it. At the 8:44 marker things would shift in the Nordiques favor as the Titans would head to the penalty box for a Nords power play. The Nordiques had to reset a couple times on the man advantage but would dump it into the corner where Tyler Gaulin would win a boards battle to kick it to Iggy Belov who would power off the boards and find Nick Bernardo who would fire a shot through a screen and into the back of the net. 1-0 Nords with ten minutes to go in the third. After the goal the Titans would try to tie it up but the Nordiques defense kept them to the outside. The Titans kept the Nords under siege in their own end for over a minute straight but the Nordiques would finally get it out of the zone after some stellar saves from Gus Holt. The Titans would look for a pass in the neutral zone but Matt Connor who had the best game of his NAHL career would step up to intercept the pass and snipe it into the empty net at the red line to seal the deal and end the Titans 6 game win streak.

The Nords hit the road on Monday for a home and home with the Northeast Generals before returning to the Colisee for a Wednesday matchup with the Gens.
