Game # 27

The Maine Nordiques kicked off a two game set to closeout 2022 and were looking to take care of business against the Hat Tricks.

The Nordiques came out firing as Tony Achille and Oliver Genest went back to back to give the Nords a 2-0 lead just thirty seconds into the game. The Nordiques would then head to the Penalty Kill and kill it off successfully. The Hat Tricks gained some momentum off their man advantage however and were able to respond towards the end of the period with back-to-back goals of their own to tie it at 2 after the first. The hat Tricks had a great chance to get the lead but Tommy Heaney made two big stops back to back in the closing moments of the frame.

The Nordiques once again started the second on a high note as Kellen Murphy threaded a pass to Brendan Gibbons who buried it to give the Nords the lead back. The Nordiques would head to the power play but it would be unsuccessful and the Hat Tricks would get a goal to close out the period to tie it once more.

The third started with a great one-man effort by Aidan Coupe who powered through the Hat Tricks’ defense and put the puck in the back of the net to make it 4-3 Nordiques. Laurent Trepanner would power through cut towards the front of the net and get denied by the Hat Tricks goalie, however, Andrew Gibbons was standing in front and he picked up the puck and put it home to make it 5-3 and seal the deal for the Nords.

Game two is tomorrow at 7 with the Nords looking for a sweep to end 2022.
