The Johnstown Tomahawks and Maine Nordiques were set to face-off for the first time in over three months and the first matchup at the Colisee between these two teams this season.

The Nordiques got off to a quick start as Theo Thrun scored his 6th of the season just 2:48 into the contest. The Nordiques would then get another goal by Jonny Meiers to make it 2-0. The Nordiques would then kill off two penalties but on the next rush the Tomahawks used their momentum to fin their first goal of the night to make it 2-1 after 1. The Nordiques would start the second period with a power play.

The Nordiques power play would come to a close but they would get two more opportunities on the man advantage in the second that they couldn’t convert on. Avery Sturtz would make some big time saves and Matt Connor would block 2 shots that were destined for goals in the game, but the Tomahawks took advantage of the Nords missed opportunities and score late in the second to make it 2-2.

Just 46 seconds into the third the Hawks would score to get their first lead of the night and make it 3-2. The Nordiques would then get their fifth power play of the evening and Tyler Gaulin would burry it to tie it at three. The Nords power play would go 1/5 on the night. After some good back and forth action the Hawks would score with 5 minutes to go. The Nordiques put pressure on but couldn’t find the one to tie it and the Hawks would burry an empty netter to make it 5-3 and take game 1.

Game 2 is tomorrow at 7pm when the Nords try to end their five game slide.
