The Nordiques were taking on the Hat Tricks to close out 2021, looking to end their great year on a high note.
The first period started with a Hat Tricks goal. The Nordiques had a power play to try and get it back however, they were denied on the man advantage and would go 0/3 on the night. The Nordiques would then take a penalty of their own to make it 4 on 4 but no further scoring would occur.
The second period consisted of eight goals in total. The Hat Tricks got the scoring going with back to back goals to make it 3-0 just seven minutes into the second. The Nordiques would then get on the board from a goal by Iggy Belov assisted by Kadsen Johnson who decked past two danbury defenders and into the zone. The Nordiques would make it back to back goals of their own from a second by Theo Thrun. 3-2 Hat Tricks until they got two goals once again back to back to make it 5-2. Theo Thrun would then blast a slap shot home to make it 5-3, but as time was winding down in the second the Hat Tricks would score again to make it 6-3 after the second.
The third period started with a Nordiques power play, but were unable to convert on it. The Hat Tricks would then score again, but on the next rush Patrick Schmedlin would get it back to make it 7-4. Unfortunately, for the Nords thats where their scoring would end. At the 9:46 marker tensions flared as fighting majors were assessed in three different occurrences. The Hat Tricks would score two more goals and take it 9-4.
Both teams square off for game 2 tomorrow at 7pm to kick off 2022 at The Colisee.
