The Maine Nordiques are proud to announce the tender signing of standout goalie Gavin Fitzpatrick.
Gavin is a 2002 birth year goalie who hails from Thayer Academy Prep school. At 18 years old Gavin looks to make a splash with the Nordiques in Maine. Gavin stands at 6’1 and is from Norwood Massachusetts.
Last season at Thayer Academy as a senior, Gavin posted an impressive 2.65 Goals against average ( GAA ) and a .917 save percentage.
Gavin was selected 16th overall in the 2018 QMJHL draft by the Halifax Mooseheads. Along with being a QMJHL first-round pick, Gavin played for the United States in the Hlinka Gretzky Cup tournament, which is a USA Hockey sanctioned tournament that takes place every year for players under the age of 18 to play against countries such as the Czech Republic, Sweden, and Russia.
Maine Nordiques Head Coach Nolan Howe said of him that he is “a first-class player with a lot of potential. We’re excited to have him add depth to our net and compete for our crease this upcoming season “ with this tender Coach Nolan Howe and the Nordiques staff continue to build their goaltending depth throughout all levels of the Nordiques organization. Associate head coach Matt Pinchevsky said of him that “ Recognizing the character and work ethic behind Gavin as a person and player was a simple process. The identity of our net is important, and we took a big step in signing him. “
The identity of the net in the East division in the NAHL is something every coach needs to focus on. 5 out of the 10 leading scorers in the league last season game out of the East division, one of those including the Nordiques division 1 NCAA commitment Noah Kane.
