The Nordiques took on the Jamestown Rebels to begin their halloween weekend and their return home to the Colisee after 3 weeks.

The first period started with a Nordiques power play; they were unable to convert, but the Rebels would then strike after a successful PK and get a 1-0 lead just 5 minutes in. The Nordiques would then get another power play – they were unsuccessful but were able to strike with two back to back goals from Zion Green and Patrick Schmiedlin on the power play who made his return to the Nordiques. 2-1 Nords after 1.

The second period would start with another Rebels penalty, but the Nordiques wouldn’t be able to convert. The Rebels would get one to tie at the midway mark in the frame. The Nordiques would kill off their only penalty in the period and use that momentum for a breakout goal by Tyler Gaulin, assisted by Patrick Schmiedlin and Zion Green. 3-2 Nords after the second.

The Rebels would get two goals on the power play in the third in a span of two minutes to take the lead. With time winding down in the period Filip Wiberg won a face-off back to Nick Bernardo who fired a wrist shot that was tipped by Wiberg and in the back of the net to tie it with 2:50 left in regulation.

4-4 after three periods; we would need overtime. The Nordiques got a couple of chances but overtime was back and forth with the Rebels getting the upper hand in terms of pace of play. We were still tied at 4 after OT so we would go to a shootout.

In round 1 Avery Sturtz started it with a right pad save and Reese Farrell didn’t find the net.

In round 2 Avery Sturtz started with another right pad save, but Zion Green was denied.

In round 3 Avery Sturtz started with another save, but Patrick Schmiedlin couldn’t elevate the puck home.

In round 4 the Rebels would score and Tyler Gaulin would be denied giving the Rebels the Shootout win.

Game two is tomorrow night with the Nordiques looking to snap their 5 game slide.
