Nords Celebrates Goal

The Nordiques were taking on the Rebels for game two of the weekend after a devastating overtime loss last night.

The first period started with a successful penalty kill for the Nordiques. They would then keep the puck in the zone and Caden Pattison won a battle down low for the puck to come free for Tristan Fasig who hit the post late in last nights game. Fasig tonight, however, made it rain teddy bears and put the Nordiques on top 1-0. The Rebels would respond with three straight in a span of five minutes to take the 3-1 lead after one period.

Avery Sturtz took over the goaltending duty to start the second period and it energized the Nordiques as they went to a power play Reese Farrel would blast home a one-timer to make it a one goal game. After another successful penalty kill the Nordiques would get a rush chance with Reese Farrell looking for a backdoor pass to Gibbions that got blocked; but Tyler Gaulin would find the puck in the slot and put it home to tie it at three. The Nordiques would then kill off a 4 on 3 power play to end the second and start the third.

After we returned to even strength both teams were looking for an upper hand. That didn’t come until 11:44 into the period when the Nordiques swung back to the power play and after some good cycling Nick Bernardo would blast a shot home to give the Nordiques the 4-3 lead with five minutes to go. The Nordiques would then be backstopped by Avery Sturtz and some key shot blocks from Marty Marneaus to seal the 4-3 comeback win.

The Nordiques are next in action on December 17th against the first place New Jersey Titans for Star wars night.
