Nordiques Blow Out Rebels, Remain in Playoff Picture

The Maine Nordiques were coming off of a 4-1 loss against the Generals on Monday and were defending home ice and their fourth place spot in the East Division.

The first period got off to a strong note for the Nords as they were able to put the pressure on early. They would find the scoring sheet on a power play as David Helledy put home a chance in the slot to give the Nords a 1-0 lead. The Nordiques would get another as Brendan Gibbons put home his first of the game to give the Nords a 2-0 lead after 1.

Aidan Coupe struck early into the second Frame as the Nordiques killed off a penalty successfully. It was Brendan Gibbons once again as he put home his second goal of the game off a tip from a Sterling Wolters shot. 4-0 Nordiques after two periods of play.

The third period started with a David Helledy goal, his second of the contest, just 28 seconds into the third on the power play. The Nordiques would go to a five minute power play where Evan Orloff struck with a blast through the Rebels goaltender. They would get another goal on their five minute man advantage from Jonny Meries, but gave up two goals to end the game. Kael Depape, with his performance in net earned him the record of the longest time by a goaltender to not give up a goal in Nordiques history.

The Nords look for the sweep tomorrow at 7pm at The Colisee.
