Nordiques Select Nine Players in the NAHL Draft 2022

The Maine Nordiques lead by Head Coach Matt Pinchevsky, and his staff took the first step to gearing up for the 2022 season, with the 2022 North American Hockey League (NAHL) draft. The Nordiques selected six forwards and three defenseman.

Nordiques had the third overall pick, in the 2022 NAHL draft, selecting Anthony Achille. Anthony is a 2002 birth year, left shot forward who is no stranger to junior hockey; looking to make a splash in the NAHL bringing his veteran presence and scoring touch along with him.

With their second, first round pick in the 2022 NAHL draft, the Maine Nordiques selected two-way left defenseman, Sterling Wolters from the OJHL. Sterling adds stability to the blue line on both sides of the puck with being a 2002 birth year player who hails from Ontario Canada.

The third and final pick in the first round of the 2022 NAHL draft, the Nordiques select left shot defenseman, John-Paul Steele. John-Paul is a 2003 birth year player who is from Franklin, Massachusetts. Steele was in the South Division last season for the NAHL regular season champion, Lone Star Brahmas. JP looks to bring his game to Maine and make his presence felt on the blue line.

The Nordiques didn’t get a second or third round pick this draft, due to previous transactions made last season.

First pick in the fourth round of the 2022 NAHL draft, the Maine Nordiques selected Aidan Coupe from the Olds Grizzlys of the AJHL. Aidan is a 2002 right shot forward who knows how to pass the puck and uses his speed to get open.

Second pick fourth round pick in the 2022 NAHL draft, the Maine Nordiques selected center Patrick Somerville. Patrick is a 2002 birth year right handed center that has racked up 26 points for the Islanders Hockey Club in his NCDC (National Collegiate Development Conference) Junior Hockey career. Patrick Hails from Medford, Massachusetts and looking to bring his game to the next level here in Maine.

The fifth round pick in the 2022 NAHL draft, the Maine Nordiques selected a familiar face in Laurent Trepanier. Laurent is a 2004 birth year left handed shooter who suited up in four games with the Nords last season. Laurent opened the eyes of the Nords coaching staff last season; he is excited to spend a full season in Maine. Trepanier previously played four seasons with Seacoast Performance Academy. Laurent looks to pick up where he left off last season.

First sixth round pick in the 2022 NAHL draft, the Maine Nordiques selected forward Jackson Foddrill. Jackson is a standout 2005 birth year right handed shot who suited up in two games with the Nordiques last season. Jackson is another player who impressed the Nordiques staff and is eager to play a full season with the Nordiques this season in Maine.

Second pick in the sixth round of the 2022 NAHL draft, the Nordiques selected defenseman Caid Cox. Caid is a 2003 birth year right handed defenseman who knows how to pass the puck and find the open man. Caid Hails from Livington, Montana and has his eyes set on being a solid option for the Nordiques on the backend.

Seventh round pick in the 2022 NAHL draft, the Nordiques selected NA3HL affiliate player Cade Wessman. Cade had an impressive season with the Nordiques NA3 affiliate team, the Butte Cobras, racking up 76 points in forty-five games played; which lead the Cobras back into the playoff picture. Cade got the invite to Maine to practice with the Nordiques and suited up in a game with the Nordiques last season.
