The Nordiques were looking for the three game weekend sweep of the Northeast Generals with a win.
The first period got underway and Ewan McDevitt and Laurent Trapenier were making their NAHL debuts. In the first period the Nords got a penalty early on and would give up a goal just after the kill. 1-0 gens after one period.
The Generals got off to a hot start in the second as well to make it 2-0. After seven minutes of play Brendan Gibbons would score to make it 2-1. The Generals would respond on a turnover to make it 3-1. The Nordiques then would do what they did best the weekend and come back with three in a row to make it 4-3. It would start off of Reese Farrells power play goal and another from Brendan Gibbons before Caden Pattison cleaned up a second chance to make it 4-3 Nords after the second.
Iggy Belov gave his team a 5-3 lead to start the third with an early goal. The Generals would get a quick power play and a response goal. Three minutes later they would get another to tie it at five. After some back and forth the Nords got an offensive zone face-off win from Filip Wiberg cleanly back to Evan Orloff who put it home to make it 6-5. The Generals weren’t done however as they scored late to tie it and we would need overtime.
The Nords controlled it off the opening face-off and had a rush chance stopped and the Generals would get a breakaway and score to take it 7-6.
The Nords got 5/6 points on the weekend and they will return home on Friday and Saturday for two game with the Black Bears.
