The Nordiques we’re taking on the Maryland Black Bears for game two on the road, looking for some revenge and a weekend split with the East Division leaders.

The Nordiques went to the penalty kill early; and were able to kill off a penalty. After the media timeout the Nords got some energy and went to the attack, where a shot bounced around and found Laurent Trepanier who buried it to make it 1-0 Nords. The Nords would hold the lead on the back of Kael Depapes stops, getting the Nords the lead into the second period.

The Black Bears responded early into the second after converting on a half breakaway to tie it at 1. After the goal the Nords went to the penalty kill, but Kael Depape stood strong in net to kill off the penalty. The Nords went to the power play, which came up empty. The Nords penalty kill went to work again toward the end of the period allowing the Black Bears to convert early into the man advantage to make it 2-1 Black Bears. The Nordiques would regain the attack, where Jonny Meiers would put home a second chance to tie it up at 2. After the second, it would remain a 2-2 game.

The Nordiques got carry over power play time as it was expiring; the Nords kept the puck in the zone, where Henrik Hallberg picked up a lose puck in the slot and put it home to give the Nords the lead early into the third period. The Nords would head to another penalty kill, but Kael Depape denied multiple chances in the Nords net to keep their lead intact. The Nords couldn’t get the puck out of their zone, in which the Black Bears made them pay, 3-3 with ten minutes to go. The Nordiques had a chance to get it back on a power play, but were unable to convert. The Black Bears would get a power play and Kael Depape would slam the door once again. With four minutes to go, the black bears got a great end to end chance and scored to get the lead late. The Nords would pull the goalie for six attackers but couldn’t find the tying goal. 4-3 Black Bears final.

The Nords head to Johnstown to play the Tomahawks before returning home to face the black bears on the 20th and 21st.
