The Nordiques needed a big response after getting shutdown by a strong Generals showing in game 1 and only recording 1 goal.
The first period was underway and the first 5 minutes had a similar feel to the first period of the game on Friday; a slow start and some back and forth play. Liam McCaney who got the first goal for the Generals, in their NAHL season, against the Nordiques back on 10/9 at the 7:11 marker would record one at the 7:55 marker of the first. The Nordiques couldn’t get a response and a slow first period and a bad start for The Nordiques would come to a close.
The second period began with a face-off win for The Nords, a zone entry and an Isaiah Fox goal! James Philpott would record the assist to give him 2 points on the weekend with his goal in Fridays game. The 2nd period would see no further scoring and the second period, which has been key for both teams this season would come to a close.
The 3rd period started the same win that the 2nd period did with a Nordiques goal from Stefan Owens on a 2 on 1 opportunity from Isaiah Fox and The Nordiques would then have the lead for the first time this weekend. The Generals kept fighting and trying to get one passed Avery Sturtz to tie it, but Sturtz stood strong all game long finishing with 30 saves and picked up the 3rd star. Caden Pattison would record the dagger with 1.3 seconds left into the empty net; to give The Nords the game 2 response and the victory 3-1. A quick turnaround for The Nordiques, however as they are back to work on Tuesday in their first meeting with the Danbury hat tricks.
